As a key member of our Cellular Therapy Laboratory (CTL), you will play an integral role in performing technical procedures involved in the operation of the laboratory, including red blood cell and volume reduction, as well as cryopreservation of viable cells for transplantation.
Responsibilities will include:
To qualify, you must be a Medical Technologist (ASCP degree or equivalent) with at least 2 years of Stem Cell or Cellular Therapy lab experience, or, have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or equivalent (Master’s or other higher degree preferred). The successful candidate must be a licensed medical technologist by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), and have at least 1 year experience in a Stem Cell, Cellular Therapy, or Tissue Culture Laboratory using aseptic techniques. Demonstrated competence in handling blood and/or blood products consistent with the operation of a clinical laboratory and blood bank, along with demonstrated competence with hematology procedures are a must. Superior analytical, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills are essential, as is ability to discuss patient test results with transplant and other physicians. Knowledge of flow cytometry and hematopoietic progenitor cell assays, and familiarity with FDA and NYSDOH regulations and AABB and FACT standards are a plus. Must be willing to work a flexible shift, including eveings and on-calls.
