In this role, you will be responsible for molecular analysis of blood samples from patients and donors for clinical and research purposes. In addition, you will oversee sample receipt, DNA and RNA extraction, as well as perform PCR-based laboratory developed and automated tests, and sequence analysis.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing genomic testing, including sample receipt, DNA extractions, RNA extractions, and PCR-based testing (PCR-RFLP, AS-PCR and array technologies)
  • Preparing and submitting PCR products for sequencing
  • Reviewing assays, interpreting results, and writing draft reports
  • Performing sequence analysis, reviewing results, and submitting test results for review
  • Ensuring quality control on reagents
  • Under direction of management overseeing research projects
  • Ordering, receiving, storing and keeping track of all laboratory supplies
  • Maintaining equipment quality control and ensuring optimal condition of all refrigerators and freezer logs
  • Compiling statists for monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Following guidelines, SOPs, practices, policies, regulations and procedures as required
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Handling other related functions as necessary




To qualify, you must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science, have at least 3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting, and possess a New York State Medical Technologist License. Knowledge of basic lab techniques and Microsoft Office Suite will be expected, as will superior analytical, problem-solving, organizational and oral/written communication skills.
