    As an integral member of our enterprise-wide law department, you will provide legal advice to the organization and its affiliates in all areas of legal affairs managed by the Office of the General Counsel, with a focus on commercial work and corporate transactions.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Assisting in the management of all legal matters across the enterprise
    • Resolving legal issues and disputes involving business activities
    • Working with internal and external counsel on corporate transactions, including mergers, joint ventures and affiliations with other blood centers and health care entities
    • Serving as an advisor on corporate and commercial transactions, real estate matters, licensing and intellectual property, and information systems technology
    • Negotiating and drafting contracts in all areas, including customer agreements for NYBC and its affiliates, purchase of goods and services, equipment and vehicle leases and real property leases
    • Preparing various legal documents
    • Providing counsel and support on compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws for the organization and its affiliates
    • Interacting with senior executives of the organization, affiliates and the Board(s) with respect to general corporate policy and governance matters
    • Handling special projects as assigned


    To qualify, you must have a Juris Doctor, along with current and valid admission to the New York Bar, and 3-5 years’ experience in a law firm, non-profit or in-house corporate entity with a focus on corporate and commercial matters. Knowledge of legal issues relevant to corporate and commercial matters in the non-profit and/or pharmaceutical/healthcare industry is will be expected, as is the ability to work independently and travel up to 20% of the time. Superior analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and oral/written communication skills are a must
