    As a key member of our Perioperative Autologous Transfusion Department, you will support the Manager in the coordination of daily activities associated with our Cell Salvage Program.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Managing, training, developing and mentoring staff
    • Overseeing field based staff’s daily work schedules
    • Directing all activities of technicians and team members, including competencies, staff training and SOP updates
    • Assisting in the implementation of, and adherence to, Standard Operating Procedures, Policies, Procedures and accreditation
    • Maintaining quality control of documentation and machines
    • Monitoring performance standards and ensuring staff’s ability to perform duties
    • Working with the Logistics Department to manage equipment and monitor inventory of supplies
    • Providing expertise in technical and clinical areas
    • Ensuring all regulatory and compliance issues are addressed in a timely manner
    • Responding to customer inquiries and concerns
    • Providing support to Manager with key performance indicators and other department metrics that will allow for recommendations for continuous process improvements
    • Handling special projects and other related functions as necessary


    To qualify, you must have a High School Diploma, preferably a Bachelor’s Degree, and at least 3-5 years’ experience as a PAT Specialist or in a progressive role performing operation and monitoring of cell salvage equipment, or as a Perfusionist or Technician who salvaged and processed autologous whole blood. Knowledge of regulatory compliance (HIPAA, FDA, AABB), as well as CBA (Local 202) will be expected, as will the ability to travel up to 30% of time and a valid Driver’s License. Superior leadership, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills are a must. PC proficiency with MS Suite essential. Certified Perioperative Blood Management Technologist (CPBMT) preferred.
