    Responsibilities

    The Clinical Laboratory Technician we seek will perform product/patient/donor testing required so components are distributed in a timely, effective manner to customer. You will also perform monthly QC of blood components and monitor monthly reports to ensure compliance.

     

    Responsibilities include:

     

    • Performing hematological pre and post testing on specimens received from collection sites and handling the accurate data entry of results.
    • Identifying and communicating any abnormal values to appropriate staff.
    • Performing leukocyte counts on products.
    • Overseeing Monthly QC of blood components and monitoring the Monthly reports to ensure compliance.
    • Performing required QC of the Bacterial Detection equipment and generating daily reports.
    • Preparing and inoculating Single Donor Platelet samples for bacterial detection testing employing sterile technique.
    • Performing bacterial detection testing on cellular therapy products.
    • Ensuring maintenance on all equipment within the department.
    • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment while following all procedures, practices, SOPs, regulations and guidelines.
    • Taking hospital orders, accurately processing patient samples, and performing platelet antibody screening.
    • Recommending and implementing process improvements.
    • Handling other related functions as necessary.

    Qualifications

    To qualify, you must have an Associates Degree in Medical Technology or related field, NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License, and 3 years’ experience in a biomedical laboratory. Knowledge of sterile technique, basic Quality Control procedures, and with laboratory supplies/equipment will be expected. PC proficiency with MS Office Suite and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment essential. Superior analytical, oral/written communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills are a must.
