    Responsibilities

    As a key member of our team, you will oversee molecular analysis of blood samples from patients and donors for clinical and research purposes. In addition, you will perform PCR-based laboratory developed tests, automated tests, sequence analysis, sample receipt, as well as DNA and RNA extraction to be submitted for management review.  

     

    Responsibilities include:

     

    • Performing genomics testing including sample receipt, DNA extractions, RNA extractions, and PCR-based testing.
    • Reviewing assays and interpreting results to write draft reports.
    • Preparing and submitting PCR products for sequencing.
    • Conducting research projects under the direction of management.
    • Following all guidelines, SOPs, practices, policies, regulations, and procedures as required.
    • Compiling statistics for monthly/quarterly reports.
    • Performing quality control on reagents.
    • Performing equipment quality control and maintaining equipment to ensure optimal condition and maintaining refrigerator/freezer logs.
    • Monitoring laboratory safety

     

    Qualifications

    To qualify, you must have a Bachelors’ Degree in Medical Technology or Biological Science, NYS Medical Technologist License, and a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a laboratory setting. Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to teach/train other staff members are essential. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and analytical skills are a must, as is PC proficiency and the ability to work independently.
