Responsibilities

This position is responsible for securing and maintaining goods and services and relationships with trading partners. This position will also ensure that NYBC purchasing policies are updated and followed by validating that purchases are bought on a best value basis and the business relationship are based on commercial criteria.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Place orders for services and products.
  • Obtains price quotes for assigned divisions and works with assigned divisions to obtain approval before purchase is made.
  • Contacts vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Resolves common problems associated with invoices.
  • Reviews all price quotes received for content, value and lead-time to determine which vendor is most competitive in fulfilling orders.
  • Oversees storage used by assigned departments for their files and records.
  • Assists internal customers with questions regarding the procurement process.
  • Arranges pickup and delivery of stored files from various departments and locations.
  • Obtains proof of delivery from vendors when receipt is in question.
  • Arranges the set-up of various equipment for meetings.
  • Any related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree a plus.

 

 

Experience:

Three years of experience in purchasing, buying, accounts payable or directly related experience.

Previous laboratory experience preferred.

 

Travel :

Local travel reqiuired to NYBC locations (NYC,LIC,LI)

 

Knowledge:

Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and financial software. (Word, Excel, Oracle Financial Procurement).

Knowledge of purchasing principles, practices and procedures.

 


Skills & Abilities:

Attention to detail in reviewing purchase contracts, invoices, requisitions and purchase orders.

High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of issues and situations.

Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.

Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and customers in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.

Ability to plan and organize job tasks or resources in an efficient manner.

Ability to be responsive and available to management in order to address issues and concerns as they arise.

Ability to edit documents for spelling, grammar and tone, and presents data effectively and is able to read and interpret written and analytical information. Monitors own work to ensure quality.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Ability to work with confidential and sensitive financial information.

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hourly salary is $30.00/hr. to $34.00/hr.  For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

 

Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.
