Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs, the Sr. Grants and Financial Analyst provides comprehensive award management through exercising objective and independent judgement in interpreting regulations and contract language, negotiating terms and conditions, managing award compliance, and in making recommendations to departments and leadership. Sr. Grants and Financial Analyst is knowledgeable in the areas of state, federal, foundation and other research grant funding mechanisms including pre-award and post-award related functions and provides mentorship on these areas. The Sr. Grants and Financial Analyst collaborates with stakeholders in the research division and other operating departments to ensure compliant, timely, effective and efficient management of all research activities under the auspices of New York Blood Center, Inc.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Independently reads and interprets different funding opportunity announcements, including federal grant requests for proposals, in order to assist faculty and staff with inquiries in the proposal preparation and submission phase and to inform faculty and staff with changes in regulations, proposal requirements, forms, submission processes, and deadlines.
  • Creates, reviews, revises, and negotiates simple and complex research-related agreements, including amendments, consistent with relevant documents, institutional policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage and administers pre-award activities including completion of grant documents, working with Principal Investigator on a detailed budget based on input and project needs, assembly of proposal package and submission, and preparation, review, and submission of just-in-time requests. Applies knowledge of federal regulations and policies on research compliance, i.e., human subjects, animal use, institutional policies on conflict of interest, etc., to ensure accuracy and completeness of grant proposal packages or documents submitted to sponsors.
  • Manage and administers post-award activities, including but not limited to monthly account reconciliations, expenditure review, personnel effort distribution, review and set up of subaward agreements, submission of invoices, scientific progress and financial reporting, and account closeout.
  • Assists in the company yearend close-out procedures, including setting up annual budget, ensuring prior fiscal year account is closeout on time, creating new fiscal year accounts and all necessary expenses have been posted, POs are correctly accounted for and encumbered.
  • Generate annual PI portfolio and project financial projections to provide sound advises and make informed decisions with PI and leadership.
  • Keep abreast of laws, regulations and internal policies that apply to departmental financial transactions and projects.
  • Creating and updating award management templates and instructions manuals.
  • Reviewing and validating dashboard data.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of four years of experience performing related duties.

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $78,000.00 p/yr. to $88,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

 

Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.
