Responsibilities

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the building services and will oversee the cleaning of the Rye facility. This position will supervise a large janitorial staff.

 

  1. Supervising Cleaning Staff:
    • Manage a team of cleaners and custodians.
    • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training.
    • Ensure that staff follow proper cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
  2. Maintaining Cleanliness Standards:
    • Ensure that all areas, including donor rooms, laboratories, and common areas, meet hygiene and cleanliness standards.
    • Regularly inspect the facilities to identify and address any cleanliness issues.
  3. Sanitation Protocols:
    • Implement and enforce sanitation protocols specific to a medical environment.
    • Ensure compliance with health regulations and guidelines for infection control.
  4. Inventory Management:
    • Manage cleaning supplies and equipment.
    • Order and restock supplies as needed and maintain an inventory log.
  5. Scheduling:
    • Develop and manage cleaning schedules to ensure that all areas are cleaned regularly and thoroughly.
    • Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate special events or unexpected situations.
  6. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure that all cleaning processes comply with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
    • Address and resolve any safety hazards related to cleaning practices.
    • Conducts safety meeting and trains janitorial staff on cleaning safely in medical environment
  7. Coordination with Other Departments:
    • Work closely with other departments to coordinate cleaning activities, especially in areas with high foot traffic or where sensitive operations occur.
  8. Reporting:
    • Maintain records of cleaning activities, incidents, and staff performance.
    • Report any issues or concerns to higher management.
  • Other Secondary Functions:
    • Supervises, trains, mentors and develops assigned staff
    • Monitors staff performance in terms of productivity, quality, customer satisfaction levels; addressing staff concerns and issues and unusual occurrences to ensure appropriate levels of customer and employee satisfaction.
    • Oversees the routine removal of regular and biohazard trash, ensuring appropriate policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.
    • Exemplifies Customer Service Mission and Core Values and provides consistent application of NYBC policies and procedures to ensure a productive and supportive work environment.
    • Scheduling of janitorial staff. Coordinates leave time with appropriate managerial staff.
    • Inspects the completed work of assigned staff.
    • Responds to building services work order system and follows through to completion with internal customers, external resources, and closing out of work orders.
    • Responds to ad-hoc requests and follows through to completion with internal customer and external resources
    • Ability to speak Spanish.
    • Any related duties as assigned.

     

     

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Associate degree

Experience:

  • 4+ years of supervisory or lead experience within cleaning or facilities management, preferably in a healthcare or similar setting.

Required Licenses / Certification:

  • OSHA Certification: Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines.
  • Hygiene and Sanitation Training: Specialized training in cleaning and sanitation, especially in a medical or healthcare setting.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license

Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $65,370.00p/yr. to $$73,500.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.

 

Unless otherwise specified, all posted opportunities are located in the New York or Greater Tri-State office locations.
