This position is responsible for supporting a scientific team conducting research in hematology and blood disorders. The person would be responsible for conducting independent research, developing and implementing technical protocols, analyzing data, presenting their findings to the laboratory and helping to maintain the laboratory.
The primary responsibility is the characterization of pathogenesis factors in the Babesia parasite that allows the pathogen to manipulate host erythrocyte cell for its own benefit. Responsibilities also include:
• Data collection, data interpretation and preparation of experiment reports.
• Modification of protocols, planning of experiments, analyzing outcomes and designing future plans.
• Processing and analysis of large amount of data generated from lipidomic and proteomic assays.
• Statistical and Graphical Analysis of Data.
• Manipulation of sophisticated equipment as FACS and ImageStream (training is provided);
• Writing peer-review articles and submission of the manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
• Develop a good working relationship with other members of the lab team.
• Lead junior research assistants/technicians/students.
• Acquiring a thorough understanding of the present scientific literature relating to the research in the laboratory.
• Presenting research findings to other members of the laboratory.
• Makes recommendations for improvements on organizational processes and practices.
• Participates in professional development by attending conferences and seminars and is an active participant in national and international organizations.
• Any related duties as assigned.
Education:
PhD (PhD preferred) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, Genetics or related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience in at least two of the following areas:

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $87,824.00p/yr. to $92,960.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
