This position is responsible for performing perioperative cell salvage in the operating room setting. This position is also responsible for performing procedures which require manipulation of blood in the perioperative arena, ambulatory surgery arena and dental offices.
This position covers the Westchester/HV area for on call purposes; however candidate must be able to travel throughout the Tri-State area Long Island, CT and NJ if needed.
• Performs perioperative cell salvage by operating all applicable cell saver equipment in the pre-peri- or post-operative setting and performs other procedures.
• Documents appropriate information by completing procedure records and submitting records in the required time frame.
• Distributes collected blood products to appropriate operating room personnel and completes collection procedures.
• Identifies and labels product and hands off the product to the hospital designated staff members.
• Maintains quality control requirements by performing and documenting equipment and product quality control as delineated in the P.A.T. SOPs.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and reports malfunctions to management.
• Follows and ensures compliance with all procedures, policies, guidelines, practices and regulations.
• Calculates estimated blood loss and return and documents this information.
• Reports and documents any adverse events to P.A.T. management and hospital staff.
• Meets all requirements for annual physical, annual competency, and quality training.
• Maintains adequate inventory by submitting weekly inventory sheets indicating inventory used and notifying office personnel of emergency supplies removed from hospitals to ensure they are billed and replaced.
• Inspects equipment and disposables before and after use and ensure that everything is in working order.
• Represents the organization in a professional manner by arriving on time wearing appropriate identification and dressed appropriately.
• Notifies hospital staff upon arrival and follows any special protocols for individual hospitals as requested.
• Submits time sheets, expense reports and vacation requests within time frame outlined by the department.
• Assists with training new personnel as directed by management.
• Maintains organizational vehicles as outlined by department including timely completion of inspections and scheduled vehicle maintenance.
Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred.
Experience: One years of experience in a health related field or closely related field.
Licenses / Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to cope with flexible scheduling, expanding geographic territory, and on-call. Must have the ability to work independently and communicate professionally with hospital staff. Ability to be on-call and travel to hospitals throughout service area.
All salaries are pursuant to Local 202 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Rate: $27.23 Per Hour
