Responsibilities

This position is responsible for receiving and processing search requests from domestic and international transplant centers and registries, and work through the NCBP (National Cord Blood Program) Websearch application to complete searches, coordinate cord blood unit reservation, sample requests and all other necessary steps and documents for CBU (Cord Blood Unit) release and distribution. This position is remote.

 

  • Reviews patient registration and search information submitted by transplant centers and registries in Websearch and completes all follow-up tasks.
  • Transfers search requests from NMDP (National Marrow Donor Program) software to NCBP (National Cord Blood Program) Websearch.
  • Provides training, updates and support to Websearch users.
  • Reports to transplant centers and registries HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) confirmatory typing results and other results.
  • Maintains communications with transplant centers and registries and acts as liaison for all CBU (Cord Blood Unit) related questions and requests.
  • Develops and improves the distribution and coordination of processes, including preparation of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure).
  • Interfaces directly with NCBP (National Cord Blood Program)  vendors and partners to ensure timely and appropriate service and responses to transplant centers and registries.
  • Reviews submitted information for completeness and obtains reviews from senior manager staff as needed.
  • Manages data in various computerized systems.
  • Obtains informed consents and other documents as required.
  • Organizes shipments and coordinates with NCBP (National Cord Blood Program)  shipment and distribution department.
  • Makes recommendations to improve services and processes of business unit.
  • Any related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Three years of experience in a health-related field with high customer/patient contact.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of computerized systems.
  • Knowledge of basic biology, some HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) related knowledge.

  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong attention to detail in all work processes.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of complex issues and situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of staff up to and including executive leadership.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hiring rate is $32.50p/hr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
